INSHALLAH. THE JOURNEY OF MOHAMED ALì

Inshallah is the story of Mohamed Alì, a 26 years old tunisian guy. It’s his story and is also the story of a whole generation, protagonist both of the revolution and of a massive exodous towards Europe. And it’s the story of a country, Italy, that ends up beeing both the first landfall, the salvation, and an obstacle to be overcome to reach France and fulfil a dream of freedom. The revolution, than the escape across a stormy mediterranean sea, the chaos in Lampedusa and the constant fear of repatriation: Dalì narrate his journey with words and videos made with his mobile phone. Then the arrival in Puglia, and the hope that turns in anguish when he ends up penned in a huge tent city in Manduria. Like many others tunisians Dalì climbed over the enclosure and on the other side he meets some italian guys of his same age, that help him to escape. According to the authorities he is a clandestine, but once free Dalì discovers the human side of the land he arrived at, and enjoy the friendship and the complicity of a group of guys not so different from him. When the government grants a humanitarian permission to him and to others thousands of tunisians Dalì decides to continue his travel to France, where he wants to rejoin his uncle. There will be his new friends with him and a camara in his hands to shoot the rest of the journey. Once in Ventimiglia, a few km from the border, he will meet other tunisians, stopped like him by another border that seems to block their way to the future.
